Burgess Hill School for Girls students took to the stage at the new Hub Theatre at Central Sussex College in Haywards Heath to impress audiences with their acting skills.
The cast of sixteen students performed on the evenings of 10th and 11th of December to sell out audiences and were supported by a stage crew of students and staff.
They performed a devised physical theatre production called ‘His Dark Tales’ inspired by stories and poems written by Edgar Allen Poe. These included ‘Tell Tale Heart’, ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’, ‘The Masque of the Red Death’, ‘The Dream’ and ‘The Raven’.
The piece was set in a Victorian side show and the costumes were designed to reflect this, with striking hair and make up to match the outfits.
Director and Head of Drama at the School, Miss Emma Tarratt said “The extremely challenging and physically demanding production was expertly performed and wowed the audiences. Both cast and crew learned a great deal from the experience and enjoyed it immensely. The students especially enjoyed using the facilities at the Hub Theatre and would like to thank Central Sussex College for the opportunity to perform there.”
