The Sixth Form
Links with home

We encourage and value a strong partnership between parents, girls and the School. Contact with parents is welcomed; we hope to see you at events and encourage you to get in touch if you have questions or concerns.

Whilst we will contact you if there is a significant issue, there is an expectation that your daughter will take an increasing level of responsibility for herself and for her own learning.  The Sixth form is a vital period of transition between the heavily supported GCSE courses and the independence needed to thrive in Higher Education or employment beyond school. We pride ourselves that our students leave well prepared for the challenges they will face, as their success at University clearly demonstrates.

Your daughter will be invited to attend the Parents’ Evenings with you. The focus, after all, is your daughter and her participation in discussions both improves communication and increases her sense of responsibility for her own learning.

There is a formal reporting schedule each year. Please follow this link to download this schedule. Over the year, in addition to a parents’ evening, you will receive one formal written report and a copy of the Progress Review sheets in which the girls set themselves targets for the future.

Information evenings are scheduled to support key transition stages.

Further informal and formal meetings can also be arranged as the need arises.

News of activities and events is published on the website and in the annual School magazine. These, together with newsletters throughout the year, recognise and applaud the effort and achievement of the girls and keep parents informed of the range and extent of the opportunities offered, and engaged in, within and outside the School.
