The Sixth Form
Life Skills
The Lower Sixth Life Skills course literally addresses the need to acquire some basic skills to manage and survive student life and beyond. The programme includes sessions on basic first aid training, self catering, basic car maintenance checks, wiring a plug, and simple plumbing skills. Team work and careers advice also feature strongly and together the varied and interesting programme provides stimulating and useful year group activities, much enjoyed by all the students and staff who take part. The course culminates in the popular, traditional overnight hike to Beachy Head in time to partake of breakfast as the sun rises!
Underpinning the course is the aim to develop skills and embed a strong value system which will enhance:
- leadership, teamwork and communication
- responsibility, initiative and self-confidence
- social awareness, tolerance and integrity
Experience shows that encouraging aspiration and a lifelong love of learning reaps rewards; the girls meet and exceed their goals, both at school and in their future study and careers.
