A taste of life in Roman Britain

Year 9 pupils at Burgess Hill School for Girls enjoyed workshops on Fishbourne Roman Palace and life in Roman Britain. Suzanne Evans an archaeologist who works at the palace near Chichester gave a fascinating insight into life at the palace based on the mosaics and the excavated contents of the rubbish pits! Workshop activities included handling and identifying artefacts, dressing in Roman costume and sampling Roman food. One of the pupils commented, “It is amazing to think that I am holding an object that is two thousand years old.”
