2005 - 2006 As part of their Geography study of tropical rainforests, Year 5 girls at Burgess Hill School for Girls wrote to a number of influential VIPs to express their concern about deforestation and the implications it has for global warming. Year 5 teacher, Jill Walkinton, said, ‘You can imagine their delight to each receive a reply from HRH Prince Charles expressing his shared concern and his efforts to do whatever he can to raise awareness about deforestation.’ The girls have also received a response from local MP Tim Loughton who has invited them to take part in a competition connected with the environment.
