A Pupil's Guide
Senior School

Burgess Hill School for Girls has a lot of activities on offer, along with superb facilities and excellent teaching available to all. There are many extra-curricular activities for all ages ranging from Chinese lessons to Orchestra and Hockey. There is guaranteed to be something to suit everyone. The school also offers many trips and outings, for leisure and educational purposes. These are great to participate in, as you make lots of new friends and learn new skills.

All the girls at Burgess Hill are friendly and positive in their attitude towards learning. From the word go, you are made to feel a part of the school. At Burgess Hill there is also a great mix of lessons, as during a typical day, you will almost certainly have a more creative, hands on lesson like PE, art or drama. All the pupils are encouraged to perform well and do their best in all subjects, and they are always supported by the teachers.

Since I joined this school, I have become much more confident and have made many new friends and learnt new subjects and sports. This school has given me a positive attitude towards everything and everyone, and now there is nothing I am not willing to try.

When I first came here, everyone was so friendly, I fitted in straight away and with in just two days I had become used to the school. Burgess Hill School is an easy environment to work in, and the teachers give you so much support in everything you do.

As well as learning a lot, the school also provides extra curricular activities such as drama clubs, sport clubs and musical clubs.

In a typical school day, we have loads of fun, but we are encouraged to work to the best of our ability. The school has a warm and friendly atmosphere, so you feel comfortable enough to work hard and have a good time as well. The academic work is mentally and educationally challenging, but at the end of everyday you seem satisfied with the progress that you have made in each aspect of school.

When I came to the school in Year 7, I felt very nervous and isolated, but straight away I made friends and I fitted right in. Everyone was so helpful; nothing was too much trouble. It really makes a difference when you feel shy and vulnerable. The teachers help me by patiently explain things when I don’t understand.

My favourite extra curricular activity is Drama Club. It is run by sixth formers. Every week we play games, make up improvisations and practise different skills. Recently, we have been practising a play, The Wind in the Willows.  The sixth formers help and guide you so that you can do the best that you can.  We will perform it at the end of term.
