A Pupil's Guide
Boarding
My life at school as a boarder is very enjoyable. The school is a friendly environment and I feel at home here. I always have someone to talk to. When I first entered the boarding community, everybody was so kind, asking whether I had any questions or queries. We have excellent facilities here at Burgess Hill School for Girls, from the library, which contains around twelve thousand books, to our Technology Department. At our school we have lots of extra curricular activities such as, extra sports clubs at lunchtime and after school. We have extra music lessons and speech and drama lessons too. We not only do well academically we also do a lot of performing arts. Coming to this school feels like an amazing opportunity and a great privilege.
Year 8 Pupil
Being in a foreign place away from our families is not easy for overseas boarders, but because of the support and help from others, we are able to cope with the change in the environment, as well as the learning and living styles. The boarding house is like a big family where everyone is friendly and loving. As we live together, we are able to do various things as a group, such as cooking, watching movies, revision, etc. This social life is fun and is a wonderful experience. We also get help from the house mistresses when we face problems and when we need advice. They teach us a lot and are like mothers and friends to us. Boarding is one of the biggest enjoyments in my life!
