Our visit to Ditchling Museum.

Working in the Hilary Bourne Gallery

When we got to the museum we met Natalie and altogether we went into the hall and got into the groups we were in when Natalie came to visit us. Natalie told us a bit of history about the museum. It used to be a school and the room we were in used to be a classroom. She told us the different places that we were going to be visiting in the village and gave us an activity sheet.

After we had looked around the museum, we went out for a walk to see the places that were shown on our activity sheet. These are the places we visited: Court Farm, which is now the village green, Wings Place, Tudor Close and Mrs Kidd’s shop, which is now a newsagent.

We visited the places to see the differences between the olden days and the modern days. We took photographs of the places we visited. Natalie told us some information about the places and who used to live there.

These were the kind of questions that were asked on the sheet:

What is this area used for now? What was it used for in the past? Has it always been used for this? What is the area like today?

When we had seen all the places, we went back to the museum and then it was time to go back to school.
