Stunning GCSE results beat all previous school records by considerable margin

Wow! Burgess Hill School for Girls is celebrating record GCSE results with 85.4% grades at A* or A.

Over half of the year group have gained A* or A in all subjects, with a fifth of the girls gaining at least nine A* grades. The results are well deserved and represent many ‘personal best’ performances in all subject areas. The overall pass rate is 100% with 99% at the key A*- C grades.

It is difficult to single individuals out for special praise as so many have exceeded their own expectations and achieved results they hardly dared to believe were possible. Dorothy Hung  achieved eleven A* grades and the following girls achieved ten A* grades: Bethany Ault, Rachael Campbell, Samantha Chandrasekera, Joanie Lam, Jessica Latham, Marie Lebrec, Elizabeth Walker, Sophie Watson and Joy Zhou. Bethany Ault, Joanie Lam and Joy Zhou also added an extra grade A to their ten A* grades.

Headmistress, Ann Aughwane, says “These results are just brilliant; every one of the girls has something to be very proud of. These girls have been so active throughout the year in sport, drama, music and many other worthwhile activities such as volunteering within the community and entertaining the local Senior Citizens. I am particularly delighted that the girls have shown that academic success can be achieved alongside developing the many other crucial skills which are so important for their future and ours! Their achievements will give them the confidence to aim high in the next phase of their studies.”
