The Sixth Form

Head of Sixth Form:  Ms Helen Beaman B.A., P.G.C.E, M.A.
Deputy Head:              Miss Caroline Petty B.A.(Hons), P.G.C.E.

Welcome to the Burgess Hill Sixth Form website pages. Have a good look around the site. We hope we have covered a lot of the information about the Sixth Form here, but there is no substitute for actually coming and experiencing the atmosphere for yourself. You are welcome to come for an informal chat with Ms Beaman about anything relating to the Sixth Form, and we also offer Taster Days - you will be well looked after and given a full programme of lessons and activities to take part in.

The Sixth Form is a key period in young people's lives. At Burgess Hill we offer a combination of small class sizes, close academic and pastoral support, and wide opportunities to grow and develop in a huge number of responsible leadership roles. As the two years go by, girls grow immensely in confidence and independence, so that they leave ready for the challenges of Higher Education and with fond memories of a warm, inclusive community.

Facilities

The Sixth Form is housed in a separate building called Cedar Lodge. It is a great place for Sixth Form study, having both classrooms, private study areas and common rooms. There is a good balance between 'bean bags and computers'! You will hear a constant buzz of activity and fun, but the hard work gets done too, as you can tell from our excellent exam results.

Curriculum

The majority of our students study four AS Levels in the Lower Sixth and three or four A2 levels in the Upper Sixth. There are opportunities, through the extra curricular programme, to study Mandarin Chinese or Greek to GCSE level and also to opt to pursue, amongst other things, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which is highly valued by universities and the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
